Preserving Aceh's Royal Legacy: A Mixed Reality Digital Archive of Aceh’s Historic Tombstones
The purpose of this project is to digitally record and archive historical tombstones found in Banda Aceh's royal burial grounds. The produced digital archive will use mixed reality (MR) technology to capture three-dimensional reconstructions of tombstones as well as relevant historical information about each tombstone. These digital tombstones will facilitate a more interactive and immersive exploration of these historical objects by the general public, researchers, and the digital humanities community. These tombstones serve not only as markers for the deceased but also as material culture, where they are tangible artifacts that represent the past's social, political, and religious narratives. These artifacts provide valuable insights into the lives, philosophies, politics, and artistic expressions of that time. Consequently, they are of great importance to the people of Aceh and to other communities that are interested in the history of Aceh, Indonesia, and the spread of Islam in Nusantara.
