Preserving the Past: 3D Documentation of Malang's Ancient Temples

Malang, a city in East Java, Indonesia, has a rich history tied to the Kanjuruhan and Singosari Kingdoms, which left behind ancient temples such as Badut Temple (AD 760), Kidal Temple (AD 1248), Jago Temple (AD 1268), and Singosari Temple (AD 1300). These temples reflect the ancient world's culture, religion, and history but are often unfamiliar even to local residents.
Over time, these structures face threats from natural deterioration, climate, and human activity, endangering their preservation and historical value. This project aims to comprehensively archive Candi Badut and Candi Jago in 3D, creating large-scale databases that include 3D models, historical studies, photographs, and context. The digital archive will support researchers, historians, and the public in understanding the history and significance of Malang’s cultural heritage.
